Gates Don’t Go with Snow

We received a little bit of snow this week. In fact, we’re still digging out. It’s a good reminder that gates don’t go with snow.

Whether your gates are manually operated or automated, they work best and are less trouble if the snow is cleared away. Just like you clear your windows before moving your car, you should do the same with your gates. Clear their path of travel.

If you use your gate as a plow, you could damage the hardware and the gate. If it’s an automated gate, you’ll void any warranties on the operator and could create a dangerous situation using the gate as a plow.

Lubricate moving parts with a water repellent product to help reduce seizing in cold temps. For swing gates that means lubricating hinges and latches. On a slide gate, that could mean lubricating either the gate tracks or gate frame, wheels, and latches.

And if you have an automated gate, make sure operators, accessories, chains, etc. are clear of snow and ice as well.

First Snow

Winter may bring cold temperatures and darker days, but it also brings nights spent by the fire, seasonal activities, and nothing more magical than the year’s first snow.

We can prepare for the weather by wearing warm layers and keeping vehicles prepped for the elements. This is exactly what Tahoe’s crews are doing while working outside.

Tahoe Fence hopes everyone is staying safe and ready for the year’s first snowstorms.

A Golden Year

Tahoe Fence wishes everyone a golden New Year with joy, peace, and cheer.

As for us, 2024 is our golden year marking fifty years in business. Tahoe Fence was founded in 1974 and was incorporated in both California and Nevada in 1975.

With this exciting milestone, we are grateful for all the support and trust put into Tahoe Fence from our customers, staff, and community. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our journey. We couldn’t be more excited to celebrate Tahoe Fence’s 50th anniversary with you.

Here’s to another year of excellence, growth, and happiness.

Good To Your Neighbors

It’s that festive time of year when people get into the spirit of the holidays and seem to be more neighborly to one another.

When strangers act like neighbors that get along with each other.

Or maybe it’s just our coffee and peppermint bark creamer talking.

It’s Cold Outside

While our afternoons have been relatively bright and tolerable, it’s cold outside in the morning.

Ever so evident this am with slippery walks, driveways, and roads.

Nothing like working inside when it’s cold outside!

Hey Turkey

It’s Thanksgiving.

The holiday most people associate with turkey.

Whether it’s real turkey, a tofu turkey, the John Madden made famous Turducken (a turkey stuffed with a duck which itself is stuffed with a chicken,) a Turkey-Trot, or you have family that behave like turkeys.

People Business

Tahoe Fence is a fence and gate contractor that does both installations and material sales.

Which means we’re in the people business. Because people are our business.

We were sadly reminded of this the past week. Our friend, neighbor, and an occasional customer passed away.

Tahoe builds fences. But more importantly to us, we build relationships.

You will be missed, Bob.

Thank You

This weekend we celebrate Veterans Day.

We honor and thank our veterans and the active-duty members of our military.

If you have the opportunity to attend, check out the Virginia City Veterans Day Parade this weekend.

You’ll get to see the CHS NJROTC cadets. Their Raider Team had a strong showing at the JROTC National Raider Challenge this past week at Fort Knox, Kentucky.

They were able to bring home trophies for several of their outstanding performances.
