Visual Upgrade

Visual Upgrade This weekend is said to be the end of "the dog days of summer," the hottest days of the year (July 3rd to August 11th.) Before long school will be back in session. And it will be time for those Autumn home-maintenance projects. But not to worry. Simple upgrades to your property's curb appeal enhance your property as well. Visual upgrades can compliment your home and landscaping. They can reduce maintenance aggravations and costs. In addition to adding to the attractiveness and security of your property, visual upgrades increase your property values as well. Classic Celebration

Classic Celebration
Tahoe Fence is celebrating it's 50th Anniversary this year. And this week, we also get to enjoy "Hot August Nights."
What began as a 3-day event in Reno back in 1986, now includes Reno, Sparks, and Virginia City. It has expanded to 10-days of cruises, drag races, music, vendors, and a car auction. With more than 5,000 vehicles, it's the largest, nostalgic car show in the country.
That's a classic celebration.

Opposites Attract

Opposites Attract We're in the thick of Summer now. Which means it's hot, smokey, and we are at an increased risk of fires. Because of this, many insurance companies, fire departments, and jurisdictions have been or are starting to require non-combustible materials around homes and structures. This could include landscaping or fences. Many like the natural beauty and privacy that redwood and cedar fences offer. And there are non-combustible material options, including slatted chain link or screened ornamental steel, that complement the look of wood. The smooth modern appearance of black ornamental steel, while contrasting the rustic appeal of redwood and cedar, creates a visually appealing combination. Opposites do attract! Homemade Recipes Are The Best

Homemade Recipes Are The Best It's that time. This next week (July 25th through the 27th) is Night In The Country. What started as a Yerington area fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club more than 20-years ago, has grown into one of the biggest country music fests in the West. Good music, people, and camping are a homemade recipe for a fun time. So pull on your boots, and get down out of town at this year's Night In The Country. Step Up and Rise

Step Up and Rise
Tahoe Fence was asked if we would be able to build a set of stairs from engineered specs to go with a mezzanine railing we worked on. However, there was a catch. The customer wanted to use repurposed materials.
Although this build was outside our comfort zone, it wouldn't be the 1st set of stairs our shop has built. There was a spiral staircase we did some time ago with ammo can lids as steps, and fence cable as railing for a customer's tree house.
Tahoe was up to the challenge.
With measurements only, Tahoe's shop welders recreated this mezzanine staircase with a platform and safety railings. The steps are made of square steel from material shipping racks with cut-offs of expanded metal decking from security gates. The steps are attached to pipe trusses previously used as roof supports. And the safety railing is from scrap, top rail for chain link fencing.
After being cleaned up, everything was finished with zinc-rich, galvanized paint.
It not only looks good for our customer, but it fits as well!
With only some minor alteration to the mezzanine railing, the stairs are ready to be anchored in Mound House (Lyon County.)

Channeling The Boss

Channeling The Boss
It's Father's Day this weekend.
Hopefully, you're still able to celebrate with your own pops. If not, maybe you have good memories that make you smile whenever you think of him.
Tahoe's yard dog, Wally, was channeling our Old Man with the stare he gave while sitting in one of the office chairs at Tahoe's Mound House shop (Lyon County.)
Can picture the Boss looking over the top of his glasses and saying, "Good you're 15 minutes early. . ."
"Too bad that means you're 5-minutes late."
Cheers to our dads that helped make us who we are. And may they be proud of who we've grown up to be.

Bright Side

Bright Side No doubt this week has been hot. Heat wave or not, it's almost too much for Spring. On the bright side, if your driveway has good sun exposure, it could be ideal for solar-powered entry gates. Like these automated, ornamental iron swing gates by Tahoe in Mound House (Lyon County.) The solar panel uses the sun's light to charge the batteries that operate the gates. Even at night, the gates work on the energy stored from the sun.Bright Side

The weather is fantastic. And it's Friday. The end of another week. And the start of a well-earned weekend. Fabulous!

Tahoe's crews have been putting in the hours of late. They've been working on projects like this custom fence at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in Stateline (Douglas County.) This fence at the 9th hole is built with composite posts and ornamental iron panels and rails.Friday and Fabulous

Happy Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day

This weekend we celebrate Memorial Day, which originally started out as Decoration Day. It began as a way to remember and honor those that died fighting America’s Civil War.

But people raised in the South will tell you there was nothing civil about brother fighting brother. Instead, they refer to it as the War Between the States.

Memorial Day has become a day we remember and celebrate all our fallen American soldiers.

However you spend your weekend, happy Memorial Day.
